the unfolding of historicity. This is also the Kafkaan man, the convergence of both men,<br />

that of Benjamin and that of Kafka, lies in the isolation and deep forgetfulness that<br />

affects the human being, also in function of technique. What legacy will be left for<br />

future generations? In a context in which man has his hand a flood of means that<br />

distances him from social life Benjamin's thought is present giving impulse to the<br />

following reflection: is it possible to resume the resource of the narrative today? In what<br />

way? In view of the aforementioned questions we try to develop the present work in<br />

order to bring to the fore the main ideas of the philosopher Walter Benjamin about the<br />

narrative developed in the work Magic and Technique, Art and Politics, specifically in<br />

The Narrator, as well as the work The Metamorphosis written by Franz Kafka. Far from<br />

establishing definitions, what is still objective, is to put in vogue reflections that allow<br />

interpretations of reality, thus evidencing the exercise of philosophizing.<br />

DESENVOLVIMENTO<br />

Longe de se caracterizar como um pensamento regido por um sistema, a<br />

construção das ideias benjaminianas parece estar dotada de uma singularidade, de<br />

mecanismos que coloque seus leitores ao exercício do filosofar, verificando a realidade<br />

e buscando interpretá-la. Talvez por isso a dificuldade em decifrar os escritos de Walter<br />

Benjamin. A proposta prevista em O narradorserve como afirmativa para tais<br />

prerrogativas. Visando trazer à tona a discussão de a narrativa estar se exaurindo, o<br />

referido filósofo aponta – após fazer uma análise da obra de Leskov – as causas que<br />

estariam levando arte narrativa ao declínio. Walter Benjamin (1994, p. 197) inicia<br />

afirmando:<br />

É a experiência de que a arte de narrar está em vias de extinção. São cada vez<br />

mais raras as pessoas que sabem narrar devidamente. Quando se pede num<br />
