ABSTRACT: This article is about an ongoing research where the object of study are the
members of the feminist movements of São Luís do Maranhão. The research is based on
questionnaire applications to groups of feminists and the analysis of the character of
Harry Potter (Hermione Granger). Therefore, it is hoped to ascertain the reception and
the media communication through the convergence between the character Hermione and
its interpreter Emma Whatson and to understand how a representation can contribute to
the construction of the social thought with respect to the feminine empowerment. This
study will also count as theoretical basis of research carried out in the field of Cultural
and Gender Studies.

INTRODUÇÃO
O movimento feminista consolidou-se nos anos 80 com os Estudos
Culturais (ZINANI, 2012). A partir desta época, a imagem das mulheres veio ganhando
cada vez mais espaço na busca pela igualdade de gêneros, especialmente na cultura
cinematográfica e na literatura. Segundo Ferreira (2014), no Brasil o feminismo
propagou-se entre vários estados, apresentou-se por meio de representações e nuances
sociais e políticas que propuseram ás mulheres liberdade e autonomia.
O feminismo no Brasil tem nuances que reforçam sua diversidade,
particularidades e correntes. Sua história está representada a partir das
feministas que vivenciaram múltiplas práticas políticas traduzidas em ações e
