realizada pelo CEDEI colaborou significativamente para a construção permanente, bem<br />

como, para o fortalecimento da identidade profissional das professoras de educação<br />

infantil da rede municipal de São Luis e para seu crescimento na profissão perante das<br />

demandas instituídas para atuar nesta etapa da educação básica.<br />

ABSTRACT: The present research analyzed the contribution of the continuing<br />

education process within the framework of the specialization course in teaching in<br />

children 's education (CEDEI), in the construction of the professional identity of female<br />

students, based on the feminization process of the teaching profession and its reflections<br />

in contemporary times. Research on this theme becomes indispensable, since this<br />

training is understood as essential for working with children from 0 to 5 years of age.<br />

The research raised the following question: How did the process of continuous training<br />

of CEDEI-UFMA contributed to the construction of the professional identity of the<br />

teachers of the municipal public institutions of early childhood education in São Luis?<br />

Thus, a theoretical study and an empirical investigation were carried out. The<br />

theoretical-methodological contribution was supported by bibliographic research based<br />

on authors such as Louro (1997), Almeida (1998), Ciampa (2007), among others and<br />

field research focusing on the exploratory study. As a data collection instrument, a<br />

semi-open questionnaire was used with thirty students. It is concluded that CEDEI's<br />

continuous training process contributed significantly to the permanent construction, as<br />

well as to the strengthening of the professional identity of the nursery school teachers of<br />

the São Luis municipal network and its growth in the profession in the face of the<br />

demands instituted for in this stage of basic education.<br />
