realizada pelo CEDEI colaborou significativamente para a construção permanente, bem
como, para o fortalecimento da identidade profissional das professoras de educação
infantil da rede municipal de São Luis e para seu crescimento na profissão perante das
demandas instituídas para atuar nesta etapa da educação básica.

ABSTRACT: The present research analyzed the contribution of the continuing
education process within the framework of the specialization course in teaching in
children 's education (CEDEI), in the construction of the professional identity of female
students, based on the feminization process of the teaching profession and its reflections
in contemporary times. Research on this theme becomes indispensable, since this
training is understood as essential for working with children from 0 to 5 years of age.
The research raised the following question: How did the process of continuous training
of CEDEI-UFMA contributed to the construction of the professional identity of the
teachers of the municipal public institutions of early childhood education in São Luis?
Thus, a theoretical study and an empirical investigation were carried out. The
theoretical-methodological contribution was supported by bibliographic research based
on authors such as Louro (1997), Almeida (1998), Ciampa (2007), among others and
field research focusing on the exploratory study. As a data collection instrument, a
semi-open questionnaire was used with thirty students. It is concluded that CEDEI's
continuous training process contributed significantly to the permanent construction, as
well as to the strengthening of the professional identity of the nursery school teachers of
the São Luis municipal network and its growth in the profession in the face of the
demands instituted for in this stage of basic education.
