ABSTRACT: The present work seeks to sensitize and demonstrate the importance of
the experiences of the students of the EJA, in their process of knowledge construction,
related to Teaching History. Since, in the current context, there are still traces of
traditional practices in teaching, which do not allow students to perceive themselves as
active agents in their learning and also ignore their baggage of experiences and life
history. This is a point to which the educator must pay attention, especially in the
Education of Young and Adults: the valuation of the students' experiences. In this way,
the present work corroborates this idea and aims to sensitize the teacher and the student
to the importance of the relationship between the contents and the experiences brought
to the classroom in the teaching of history. The research is characterized as qualitative,
where it was used as data collection, a questionnaire and the focus group, bringing some
questions. The results show that the objectives were achieved, since the teacher's
collaboration and the active participation of the class were obtained, and the relationship
between content, reality and students' experiences was established.
