Cultural Im<strong>ate</strong>rial, precisa ser mais apoiada pelos órgãos governamentais que executam<br />

as políticas de educação e cultura, para que as atuais e as futuras gerações conheçam e<br />

se apropriem dos elementos que constituem essa manifestação. Em suma, pretendo<br />

contribuir com os estudos sobre o ensino e a aprendizagem do Tambor de Crioula na<br />

infância em São Luís – MA, apresentando reflexões sobre a realidade pesquisada.<br />

ABSTRACT: The present study focuses on the teaching and learning of dance Drum<br />

Creole in childhood, based on the importance of the rescue and preservation of this<br />

cultural event in our city. Leaving the central issue that involves the investigation of<br />

how teaching and learning happens Drum Creole children, problematizei questions<br />

directed to the chairmen of groups of Creole Drum, coureiras and children who attend<br />

these groups, such as: How is the teaching of drum for children? Do you have a specific<br />

project to work with these children? What is the importance of teaching the barrel<br />

Creole children? After the barrel Creole have received the title of Intangible Heritage,<br />

which were to feature enhancements for groups? To answer these and other questions<br />

we developed a theoretical study, in which at first made a historical retrospective on<br />

culture and popular culture in Brazil and Maranhão. The second time, I discussed the<br />

popular culture in São Luís - MA, focusing more specifically the barrel Creole. On the<br />

third time, I developed the empirical part in which I analyzed the responses of the<br />

subjects through structured interviews articul<strong>ate</strong>d the chosen theoretical axes. It was<br />

found that the Drum Dance of Creole, even being considered Intangible Cultural<br />

Heritage needs to be supported by government agencies that execute the policies of<br />

education and culture, so that current and future generations to know and appropri<strong>ate</strong><br />

the elements that constitute this event. In short, I intend to contribute to studies on<br />
