ABSTRACT:The present work aims to present the preliminary discussions of the<br />

Master's research project entitled "The Embrace of the Serpent": the cinema and the<br />

teaching of History and Indigenous Culture in the classroom that aims to analyze the<br />

use of audiovisual productions, in particular the cinematographic ones, for the<br />

implementation of the teaching of the history and indigenous culture, circumscribed to<br />

the determination of the Law 11.645/2008. Thus, the present proposal aims to perceive,<br />

from a comparative analysis of the works Aguirre the Wrath of the Gods (1972) by the<br />

German filmmaker Werner Herzog and The Embrace of the Serpent, (2016) by the<br />

Colombian Ciro Guerra, in what way the change in representations about ethnic<br />

identities in Latin America, as well as the opposition between Eurocentric<br />

epistemological assumptions and pluriethnic emergencies in postcolonial contexts can<br />

aid in the implementation of what the law dict<strong>ate</strong>s. Beginning with a notion of<br />

Amerindian perspectivism, which seeks to understand how specific worldviews of<br />

various ethnic groups on the continent depart from specific ontological relations<br />

distanced from the antagonism of man / culture x nature and how such perceptions can<br />

in fact contribute to the importance of respect for otherness.<br />

A Lei nº 11.645, de 10 Março de 2008, que insere o ensino de História e<br />

Cultura dos Povos Indígenas a serem trabalhados em especial e obrigatoriamente nas<br />

disciplinas de Artes, Literatura e História, abre espaço para a discussão a respeito da<br />

comunidade indígena, ponto importante na formação da história e cultura de nosso país,<br />

mas que durante um longo espaço de tempo esteve relegada, sendo sempre estudada<br />

pela ótica dos chamados vencedores da história, ou seja, entrando de maneira subalterna<br />

na escrita da história. Manuela Carneiro da Cunha, antropóloga que busca estudar o<br />
