<strong>de</strong>vem tomar <strong>de</strong>cisões correctivas, extraindo <strong>en</strong>sinam<strong>en</strong>tos do ocorrido e <strong>de</strong>volv<strong>en</strong>do a confiança aos<br />

públicos internos e externos.<br />

Abstract<br />

In Portugal, nowadays, we notice increasing concern with corporate image and its theories. In the<br />

last <strong>de</strong>ca<strong>de</strong>, specialized books on the subject were edited, with contributions of major conceptual and<br />

practical relevance, port<strong>en</strong>ding increasing importance to this area of activity, which structures much<br />

of the success of mo<strong>de</strong>rn organizations. However, the opposite is true with organizational crises,<br />

ev<strong>en</strong>ts and extraordinary circumstances, which seem not to concern - except in high risk sectors -<br />

Portuguese administrators and managers. In fact, institutions reserve the word "crisis" for<br />

particularly severe ev<strong>en</strong>ts and with great visibility abroad. At this particular point we shall emphasize<br />

the asc<strong>en</strong>dancy of the media, which oft<strong>en</strong> contribute to amplify ev<strong>en</strong>ts which, in ess<strong>en</strong>ce, are not<br />

really critical. H<strong>en</strong>ce the growing need to <strong>de</strong>al with organizational crises within the corporate<br />

communication, because of the remarkable importance it can have on the perceived image of an<br />

organization. Nevertheless, the fact is that very little has be<strong>en</strong> docum<strong>en</strong>ted nationally, concerning<br />

crisis communication managem<strong>en</strong>t.<br />

Th<strong>en</strong>ce, we will approach subject of crisis communication on both prev<strong>en</strong>tive and reactive<br />

perspectives, and post-crisis managem<strong>en</strong>t, relevant as it can set up opportunities. The post-traumatic<br />

stage is ess<strong>en</strong>tial in the future of organizations, repres<strong>en</strong>ting the mom<strong>en</strong>t wh<strong>en</strong> corrective <strong>de</strong>cisions<br />

must be ma<strong>de</strong>, from the inci<strong>de</strong>nt and returning confi<strong>de</strong>nce to internal and external audi<strong>en</strong>ces.<br />

Introducción<br />

O estudo apres<strong>en</strong>tado tem por objecto <strong>de</strong> análise o tratam<strong>en</strong>to das crises organizacionais e a<br />

prática <strong>de</strong> uma boa gestão da comunicação corporativa, com vista à sua resolução. Procurarse-á<br />

ressaltar a importância da prev<strong>en</strong>ção, na medida em que <strong>en</strong>t<strong>en</strong><strong>de</strong>mos ser possível, através<br />

<strong>de</strong> uma a<strong>de</strong>quada planificação, antecipar e / ou at<strong>en</strong>uar situações dolosas para a instituição.<br />
