Alicja Kulecka, The State Archive in Vilnius (1922–1939). The history of the State Archive
in Vilnius is the history of one of the most important Polish archival institutions. Its resources were
diverse and abundant. It evidences the society’s cultural activities and their changes between the 17th
century and the end of the 1930s. The archive’s staff inspired by Ryszard Mienicki’s scientific and archival
activities demonstrated exceptional care about the records entrusted to them. Also efforts taken
by Wacław Gizbert-Studnicki should be admired, which aimed at improving the housing conditions,
integrating the archive’s resources, ensuring the material’s proper security and developing modern
storage standards. The archive’s history was brutally shaped by political events. The period of the Polish
administration over the resources should be regarded as particularly effective. Good management
was owed to the following factors: the introduction of modern standards of recording and developing
the resources, significant investments in the improvement and good storage conditions, introduction
of records into scientific circulation, a drive for broad access thereto for scientific purposes and other
social purposes. Including the archive into the Polish archival network became the first stage of its
admission into the European cultural zone, the reception of the standards of its creation and sharing.
Alicja Kulecka, Archives Nationales de Vilnius (1922–1939). Les annales des Archives Nationales
de Vilnius montrent l’histoire d’une des plus grandes missions archivistiques. Son fonds se
caractérisait par sa richesse et sa diversité. Il témoignait de l’activité culturelle de la société et des évolutions
sociales qui sont survenues entre le XVII e siècle et les années 1930 du XX e siècle. Le personnel
d’archives, inspiré par l’activité scientifique et archivistique de Ryszard Mienicki, a démontré un souci
exceptionnel pour la préservation des actes qui lui avaient été confiés. Il faut admirer aussi les efforts
de Wacław Gizbert-Studnicki pour améliorer l’équipement des locaux, intégrer le fonds d’archives,
