by history. It comprises printed matter collected until 1950 by the former Municipal Archive of Łódź
and then by the state archive founded there. Apart from official forms and works in the area of archival
science, the library holds a rich regional collection entitled “Łodziana” and press printed in Łódź
during the Second Polish Republic. To describe the five decades of the history of the Library of the
State Archive in Łódź reference materials were used stored among the records of the State Archive in
Łódź for 1951–2005, as well as documents stored by the institution’s archive and the related registry.
Also articles and reports pertaining to its history and the book collection proved helpful. The article
presents the scope and types of works involving the book collection, access thereto, expansion and
storage thereof. Co-operation with other libraries was described. The library’s changing location in organisational
terms and bases for its operation were discussed. The library’s employees were presented
in brief. The article does not characterize the library’s book collection. It mentions its specific nature
and role, and its close relation to the archive’s operations.

de la Bibliothèque des Archives d’Etat à Łódź est l’une des plus riches parmi les bibliothèques archivistiques.
Elle dépasse de beaucoup le profil de la bibliothèque de documents d‘archives courants. Elle
a été formée du point de vue historique et se compose de textes recueillis jusqu’en 1950 par les anciennes
Archives municipales de Łódź et ensuite par les Archives d’Etat à créées à Łódź. Outre des imprimés
officiels et des ouvrages du domaine de l’archivistique et de l’histoire des archives, la bibliothèque
possède une riche collection locale de « Łodzianin » (périodique politique fondé en 1905 — NDT) et
des journaux de presse de Łódź de l’époque de la II e République. Pour décrire le demi-siècle de l’histoire
de la Bibliothèque des Archivesd’Etat à de Łódź, on se servait de documents de source primaire qui
se trouvaient dans les dossiers des Archives d’Etat à de Łódź de 1951–2005 et de documents gardés
dans les archives administratives et les registres de cette institution. Les articles et les rapports publiés,
concernant son histoire et sa collection, étaient aussi utiles. Dans ce texte on a présenté l’étendue
et le type de travaux portant sur la collection,, son accessibilité, élargissement et conservation. On a souligné
également la coopération avec d’autres bibliothèques. Les changements de situation organisationnelle de
la bibliothèque et les principes de son activité y sont présentés, de même qu’un bref aperçu des personnes
qui y ont travaillé. Cet article ne décrit pas la collection de la bibliothèque. On y a porté l’attention sur un
rôle spécifique que joue la bibliothèque d’archives et sur sa relation avec la mission des archives.

Книгохранилище Библиотеки Государственного Архива в Лодзи относится к крупнейшим
среди библиотек архивов. Выходит далеко за профиль подручной архивной библиотеки.
Книгохранилище сформировалось исторически. Находятся в нём печатные издания, собранные
до 1950 г. бывшим Городским Архивом в Лодзи, а позже — государственным архивом, который
был создан в городе. Кроме печатных материалов органов управления и работ в области
архивоведения и архивного дела, библиотека располагает богатым региональным собранием
„Лодзиана”, прессой, выходившей в Лодзи в период II Речи Посполитой. Для иллюстрации
полувековой истории Библиотеки Государственного Архива в Лодзи автором были
использованы первоисточники из собрания документов Государственного Архива в Лодзи 1951–
2005, а также документы, хранящиеся в собственном и местном архивах этого учреждения.
Полезны были также опубликованные статьи и рефераты, касающиеся истории библиотеки
и её собраний. В статье представлены сфера и виды осуществляемых с книгохранилищем
работ, предоставление к нему доступа, его расширение и хранение. Обращено внимание
на сотрудничество с другими библиотеками. Обсуждено изменяющееся организационное
местонахождение собрания и основы его функционирования. Кратко представлены работники,
занимающиеся библиотекой. Статья не анализирует самого собрания библиотеки. Обращено
в ней внимание, прежде всего, на специфику и роль, которую выполняет архивная библиотека,
а также на ее тесные связи с деятельностью архива.
