Communication Manager Maintenance Object Repair Procedures<br />

1. If the system has duplicated PNC:<br />

a. Test the ATM-EI (test board location l).<br />

b. If Error 3585 is detected again, or if the board is not recognized anymore, replace the<br />

ATM-EI circuit pack.<br />

2. If the system does not have duplicated PNC and the circuit pack is in a PN:<br />

a. Replace the ATM-EI circuit pack.<br />

Error Type 3586: Framer Looparound test (#1260) failed.<br />

3. If Error Type 3586 is detected again, replace the circuit pack.<br />

v. Error Type 3841: The board received a message from the switch that it does not recognize,<br />

and the board responded with an inconsistent down link error message. This error does not<br />

affect service, and no action is required.<br />

w. Error Type 3842: The circuit pack received data from the packet bus faster than it could<br />

distribute the data to its endpoint. This circuit pack should be able to recover by itself, and<br />

no action is necessary.<br />

x. Error Type 3843: The firmware on the circuit pack is reporting a resource that is low. This<br />

error does not affect service and no action is required.<br />

y. Error Type 3999: The circuit pack sent a large number of control channel messages to the<br />

switch within a short period of time.<br />

If Then<br />

Error Type 1538 is also<br />

present<br />

2 Packet path failed<br />

3 Circuit path failed<br />

4 TDM loop cannot be created<br />

5 Packet loop cannot be created<br />

The circuit pack is taken out of service<br />

Error Type 1538 is absent The circuit pack is not taken out of service, but has<br />

generated 50% of the messages necessary to be<br />

considered hyperactive.<br />

This can be normal during heavy traffic.<br />

If the error is logged during light traffic, it can indicate a<br />

problem with the circuit pack or the equipment attached to it.<br />
