Floods are the most devastating natural disasters in Malaysia, since 1965, floods have
affected many areas in Malaysia including floods in 2014. People in the Kelantan river
valley still face an ineffective flood management system despite government efforts
to build flood management systems approaches However, floods in Kelantan 2014 are
the worst in records in terms of depth and flood and damage to property and
infrastructure. This study was conducted in the village of Lembah Sireh, a village in
Kota Bharu, which has experienced unprecedented floods. The study aims to identify
the population profile, assess the level of flood knowledge and the level of population
readiness in managing themselves in the face of large floods in Lembah Sireh through
three levels of pre, post and post flood flood. This study uses a full quantitative method
where structured questionnaires are used to obtain information from respondents.
Some of the respondents used in the pre-study study were examined. Respondents
consist of residents in Lembah Sireh living from 1960 to 2017. Some literature
highlights are very important to be used to identify concepts, variables, research
methodologies, findings or research findings and gaps that need to be studied. The
previous study helps to explain the findings of the findings and the researchers can
explain why there is a variation or similarity of the findings. The effectiveness of the
affected population management system has been assessed from flood victims or
flood-hit residents through the involvement of several groups in managing the floods
between the current flood victims pre and post flood.
