Groundwater is a very important component of water resources in nature. Therefore,
this proposed study aims to investigate the saltwater intrusions and to find out the
physical and chemical parameter of the groundwater in Terengganu. Groundwater
samples were collected from 23 sampling sites. The result shows the physical
characteristics that are pH and salinity. Chemical properties results with the major
elements that are contain with Bicarbonate, Potassium, Sodium, Chloride, Calcium and
Magnesium. While, produce 3 water type of groundwater with Mg-Na-HCO3, Na-HCO3
and Ca-HCO3. Study shows that saltwater intrusion occurs at station Sg.Pulau
Ketam(S18), Pulau Warisan(S19), SMAZA(S21) which are located near to the coastal
zone that got more impact than the main land. It is recommend, that in the future the
changes happened should consider variety aspects such as hydrological balance,
physical and chemical properties as to recognize the pros and cons of the processes.
