This research was conducted to investigate the concentration of chlorophyll-a
distribution pattern over Terengganu Estuary which can related with the water quality
of that area. During the water sampling, few anthropogenic activities such as
construction and sand mining were noticed being conducted along the Terengganu
River. The results indicated that the concentration of chlorophyll-a ranged between
1.66 until 15.30 mg/m 3 . High chlorophyll-a concentration was detected close to river
mouth. The high phytoplankton biomass detected near to river mouth could be made
by the runoff of excess nutrients from the storm water drain.
