Modelling Level of Environmental Care Awareness among Secondary
Students: Approach of Structural Equation Modelling Method (SEM)

In one study, although environmental subject had applied in the teaching of school
curricular in Malaysia but its importance cannot be achieve, as students did not try to
relate what they had learned in their daily life (Evalyn, 2003). Thus, this study has
conducted to model the level of environmental care awareness among secondary
students. Data are collect through a questionnaire. About 269 secondary students in
Perak have selected in this study. Pilot study has conducted and found that the
Cronbach Alpha value is 0.850. This study uses Structural Equation Modelling method
(SEM) as approach. Through this method, a model has developed. The results, found
that RMSEA value is 0.077 which is smaller than 0.08. While the ChiSq/df value is 2.605
which is smaller than 5.0. The study show that the knowledge factors have a significant
effect on students’ awareness while education factors have no significant effect towards
students’ awareness.
