The concentration of arsenic (As), copper (Cu), chromium (Cr), nickel (Ni) and lead
(Pb) in water, sediment and fish samples from Pulau Kambing, Kuala Terengganu were
determined by using ICP-OES. The selected fish (Lates calcarifer) was analyzed for
heavy metal in gills, fillets and skins. The mean concentration of As in fillet part (1.14
mg/kg) and skin (1.30mg/kg) were above the allowable limit values according to
W.H.O guidelines. Copper level in fish sample was found above the permissible limit
of (2.00mg/kg) set by World Health Organization. All metals except for Ni (0.330mg/L)
and Pb (0.152 mg/L), were below the W.H.O recommendation guideline values.
