This study aims to examine the extent of Environmental Managerial Accounting (EMA)<br />

practice in University Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) and the motivations for its use with a<br />

view to improving trash management by University Malaysia Terengganu (UMT). Prior<br />

studies suggest the need for environmental management accounting as a supporting tool<br />

for trash management. Accordingly, this research has two main objectives. First is to<br />

examine the awareness of Environmental Managerial Accounting (EMA) system among<br />

UMT workers and second is to identify the benefit that University Malaysia Terengganu<br />

(UMT) can get by adopting Environmental Managerial Accounting (EMA) system.<br />

Interviews to officers at “Pusat Pembangunan Harta” (PPH) and RD Paper Sdn.Bhd will<br />

be conducted. Additionally, the researcher will conduct questionnaire survey to UMT<br />

workers because there is still a need for the university to encourage through education<br />

and awareness on managing trash management in the campus. Findings of this study will<br />

increase the solicit level of UMT workers on the importance of EMA on trash management.<br />

As a result, a systematic trash education and awareness strategy can be developed to<br />

obtain all potential benefit of EMA on trash management.<br />
