Application of S. Polyanthum and M. Citrifolia in Medicinal Cream
Formulation as Potential Treatment for Diabetic Ulcer Wounds

Diabetic patient are likely to have wounds at the feet, which can become worse and
could lead to amputation of the lower limbs. This study is to create a novel medicinal
treatment towards diabetic wounds via topical application of cream formulated with
herbal plants extract i.e. S. Polyanthum and M. Citrifolia. Those herbal plants are
known for their ability to treat diabetes disease. The crude of the herbal plants are
extracted by using solvent extraction method. Phytochemical screening is also
performed to both of the plants extracts. Cosmetic emulsion (cream) is formulated by
using constructed phase diagram. The cream is characterized for their organoleptic
properties, pH, rheology, and stability. Previous study showed that both of the plants
extracts are bio-compatible with human tissue, and are qualified to be used as a
potential medicinal cream for treatment of diabetic wounds.
