Hutan Lipur Sekayu consist of lowland forest that have diversity of mammals<br />

and this study was conducted for four consecutive months starting August until<br />

November 2017. Aim of this study, to determine the diversity of mammals at<br />

Hutan Lipur Sekayu. Two types of sampling methods were used, Visual<br />

Encounter Survey (VES) and 50 units of live cage traps. A total of 132<br />

individuals from 12 species were recorded using both methods. Observation<br />

method or VES recorded 95 number of individuals, while cage trap method<br />

recorded 37 individuals. The most commonly found species in this study, were<br />

Tupaia glis and Macaca fascicularis. The result indicate that, this lowland forests<br />

has high diversity of mammals. Therefore, further study should be conducted<br />

in near future so that the information on mammal diversity could be used for<br />

conservation purposes. As a conclusion, knowledge on the diversity of<br />

mammals and their habitat may provide beneficial information towards effective<br />

conservation management in this particular area.<br />
