Meretrix meretrix are filter feeders that have the ability to concentrate<br />

contaminants from sediments and water column making them as a good bioindicator<br />

in this study to determine if they are facing environmental stress in<br />

Setiu Wetland. Oxidative stress produces reactive oxygen species and will<br />

trigger an imbalance of antioxidant also modify proteins and thiols. Total of<br />

forty Meretrix meretrix were collected from three different stations in Setiu<br />

Wetland. Level of glutathione S-transferase (GST) were determined and it was<br />

found that M. meretrix in station one is higher compared to station 2 (p
