The level of Awareness Regarding Communication and Roles for an
Emergency Preparedness amongst Armed Forces at Terengganu

This study examined significant level of awareness on roles of Malaysian Armed
Forces and the relationship between level of awareness and communication
(theory of media richness) at Gong Kedak Air Base, Jerteh on emergency
preparedness. A total of 400 armed forces at Gong Kedak Air Base from
different department were selected using simple random sampling method. Out
of 300 randomly responded the questionnaire 158(52.7%) males 142(47.3%)
females filled in the shelf administered questionnaire adapted from National
Directorate General for Disaster Management (2013), Jennifer Leaning et. al.
(November 2016), Fuad Alzahrani and Yiannis Kyratsis (20 December 2016)
and more. The data obtained were analysed by using descriptive statistical
techniques such as frequencies, means and standard deviation and inferential
statistical such as; Kolmogorov Smirnov, chi-square, Pearson correlation and
Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). Finally, other recommendations and suggestion
were also made for further investigation.
