Mathematical Modelling and Analysis on Education Level of Malaysians

A high level of education in a country is an indicator for determining the status of a
developed nation. The objectives of this study are to build a mathematical model for the
education level among Malaysians, carry out the stability analysis of the developed model
and perform the sensitivity analysis on the model parameters. The dependent variables
of the model are studying Degree students, graduated Degree students, studying Masters
students, graduated Masters students, studying Ph.D. students and graduated Ph.D.
students. The model is governed by a system of non-linear ordinary differential equations.
The local stability analysis of the equilibrium points of the model is carried out using the
Jacobian matrix and Routh-Hurwitz criteria. MATLAB is used to verify the results. The
sensitivity analysis is conducted using the normalized forward sensitivity index to
determine the dominant model parameters.
