The Use of Fuzzy Logic in Reducing the Rate of
Juvenile Delinquency at Terengganu

The purpose of this study was to identify factors that contributed to the rising rate of
juvenile delinquency and to predict the effectiveness in using fuzzy logic for reducing
crime rates among the teenagers. There are 150 randomly selected respondents among
Terengganu’s people to answer the questionnaire. The questionnaire was divided into
two parts where Part A is about the background of the respondents and Part B need
respondent’s responses for the factor that contribute the juvenile. There are five factors
that have been studied such as family factor, peer, education, economic and
environmental. SPSS (Statistical Packages for Social Science) and MATLAB are used to
process and analyze the data obtained. The results of this study show that economy
factor is the factor that makes the rate of juvenile delinquency increase. Lastly, the
responsible party must make faster move to solve the problem in juvenile delinquency.
