Macro Environmental Factors That Affects Port Klang Development Copes
With One Belt One Road Project (OBOR)

One Belt One Road Project (OBOR) is a development strategy launched by China
government to enhance more connectivity and economic cooperation that also involve
Port Klang, Malaysia. The purpose of this research is based on how Port Klang
development can copes with OBOR project. As a result of the congestion at Strait of
Malacca, this project emphasize the important of land-based corridor using train to
minimize the congestion. The objectives of this paper is to identify the macro
environmental factors that affecting Port Klang development copes with OBOR project
using PESTEL analysis and to prioritize the dominant macro environmental factors
which influence Port Klang development copes with OBOR project by using Analytic
Hierarchy Process (AHP) analysis. Based on the research, the result has shown that
Political factor is the most prioritize main criteria followed by Economic, Technology,
Legal, Environment, and Social. Through this research, it can notify and advice the
port authority and government agency about the suitable variables to come out with
a better plan to copes with OBOR project.
