Determination of methane concentration in Upper Terengganu River<br />

This study was conducted along the upper Terengganu River catchment to determine<br />

the concentration of methane in the river. Beside methane, water pH, temperature,<br />

conductivity and dissolved oxygen were also recorded. The methane concentration<br />

was determined by GC-FID. Our study showed that the different methane<br />

concentrations values are strongly affected by the land-use surrounding the each<br />

sampling points. The changing concentrations of methane also indicate that there<br />

might be mixing of tributary waters into the main river. The methane concentrations<br />

in upper Terengganu River ranged from 15-961 ppm. All the other concentrations fall<br />

between these values.<br />
