A study on 10 sediment samples from Sungai Manjung were analysed for the
concentrations of metals (Fe, Mn, Cu and Pb). The average concentration of Fe, Mn,
Cu and Pb is 26300 mg/kg, 453 mg/kg, 310.19 mg/kg, 4.98 mg/kg and 13.24 mg/kg
respectively. Metals in sediments in decreasing order: Fe>Mn>Cu>Pb. In addition to
heavy metal analysis, sediment samples were also analysed for total organic carbon
and particle size analysis. Total organic carbon concentration the highest at station
M3 and particle size analysis showed that Sungai Manjung dominated by sandy clay
loam. Determination of correlation coefficient showed significant relation between
metals while metals showed moderate relationship with total organic carbon and
particle size. Geoaccumalation index were used to evaluate current metals studied in
Sungai Manjung sediment showed that all metals values were between classes 0 to
class 1. Thus, the Sungai Manjung is classified as unpolluted to moderately polluted.
