Groundwater discharge transport nutrients to the lake, river, lagoon, etc. can enhance
the productivity of surface water. Radon mass balance model was used to calculate
the groundwater discharge rate. Based on the radon data, the groundwater discharge
hotspot in the channel was found in S6. The elements concentration in the channel
13.79 Ca mg/L, 71.85 Mg mg/L, 0.77 Fe mg/L, 0.024 Mn mg/L and 20.13 K mg/L,
respectively. There is a strong correlation between radon and Mg suggested that the
source of these elements in the studied channel is groundwater-based, derived
probably from the sewage discharge from the nearby residential area and agricultural
activities from the surrounding oil palm plantation.
