The majestic Staufenberg mountain is a
landmark from whence Baden wine
history was written. It was right here
that the Margraves of Baden had the first single-varietal
Riesling vineyard planted in their
realm, as early as 1782. With its rich savouriness
and a southerly, generous, almost convivial
nature, the “Klingelberger K” (Klingelberger
being the local synonym for Riesling) grown
on that historic parcel today is worthy of the
ancient feat. Across the board a certain upward
trajectory is clearly evident. The Spätburgunders
have already joined Baden’s topranks.

Grapey on the nose, Reine Claude plums, apple compote, but
also discreet balsamic and peppery terroir notes. Supple in
the attack, far reaching and poised, the volume is filled with
texture, a delicate layer of phenolics and ripe acidity. Terpenic

Reductive aromas and smoky wood. Needs more air contact.
Supple on the palate, poised by mineral extract, delicate phenolics,
ripe acidity and creaminess go well hand in hand. Finishes
round and with texture, but also with juiciness and fine

Sophienberg Spätburgunder GG
Small red berries, almond, cranberry, some mint, thyme, discreet
wood nuances and wormwood. Oily background, delicate
fruity sweetness and a very fine extract, silky and with
an additional dimension of grip, lots of juice and mineral elegance.
A delicate fruity finish. 13 Vol.-%. cork, €€€

Spätburgunder Erste Lage trocken
Fresh cherry fruit on the nose. On the palate, mellow tannins,
texture, supple base, ripe but sufficiently-supporting acidity
and lively fruit. The location and the pleasingly "cool" year
predesigned this clear minerality in the finish.
