Brothers Achim and Lukas Bicking made
their first wines in the Zeller valley of
the northern Pfalz. In 2016 they moved
to the Nahe, into the Gräfenbach valley at the
southern edge of the Hunsrück mountains.
This is where they now cultivate ten hectares
of vines, in tune with nature, on the diverse soil
types of the Nahe. Their focus is on Riesling
and Pinot-varieties. We are particularly fond
of the layered and mineral Rieslings, combining
structure and finesse while displaying
skilled use of wood. The wines show character
and make you want to take another sip. A

91 2018 Wallhausen Pastorenberg Riesling tr.
Powerful golden yellow with green reflections. First impression
on the nose: as if standing in the middle of a wine cellar.
A little yeasty, green apple and peach. On the palate, powerful
with a balanced use of wood and notes of ripe kiwi. Definite
ageing potential. 13 Vol.-%. cork, €€

Fresh and fruity scent of tangerine, lemon zest and redcurrant
. On the palate, juicy apple is combined in a silky, delicate
texture with polished acidity. A pleasantly long finish with
pronounced fruitiness, a Riesling rich in nuance.

90 2015 Zell Riesling trocken
Opulent fruit with recognisable exoticism, physalis, star fruit
on the nose. On the palate there is beautiful, powerful acidity
and harmonious sweetness. A filigree Riesling that will gain
in complexity with maturity and will benefit from further

89 2018 »vom Schiefer« Riesling trocken
Classic slate nose with exotic fruits of passion fruit and pineapple.
On the tongue rather reserved and still closed. Compact
and grippy, phenolic and also with slate-spicy minerality,
shows good potential that will develop further.

89 2019 Riesling trocken
Initially closed nose with a bit of curry and fennel seed,
then yellow fruit appears. Linear and clear on the palate
with apricot, apple sauce and cloves. Light and buoyant as
a whole with well-integrated acidity. Elegant, a lot of Riesling
