long-lasting applause. This is well-deserved, of
course, since Stephan Müller manages to
make Forst’s top sites sing and speak – whether
he does so with his exquisite dry Spätlese
from the Kirchenstück or with his no less impressive
Rieslings from the Ungeheuer, Jesuitengarten
and Pechstein sites. This is the stuff
great Riesling is made of – beginning with the
dry and mineral-savoury Kabinett which we
selected as our Falstaff-Tip.

Spätlese trocken
Fine smoke, apricot, rosehip, candied lemon peel, stony
notes. Juicy on the palate with ripe acidity, a dash of sweetness,
compact structure, slightly phenolic, tension and traction.
Clear terroir character, minerality determines the finish.

Spätlese trocken
Spicy and smoky nose with ripe stone fruit, bay leaf, spices,
ripe peach and mirabelle plum. Generous on the palate with
ripe, sweet fruit and smooth acidity, almost viscous in flow.
Creamy, yet with tension and liveliness to the minerality.

92 2019 Forst Ungeheuer Im Ziegler Riesling
Spätlese trocken
Fine fragrance of apricot and peach, delicate woody perfume
and spices. Juicy on the palate with some residual sweetness
that is well integrated, firm and taut construction. Good
volume and extract, playful yet straightforward acidity, cool
minerality. Young and long. 12,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€€
93 2019 Forst Kirchenstück Riesling Auslese
Deep, clear yellow. Rather subdued nose, with aeration
comes blossom honey then papaya, a mineral underlay, ripe
citrus fruit and herbal spice. Dense and complex on the palate,
vibrant acidity, rich fruit, texture, tension and balance.
Great future, finishes long and fresh. 10 Vol.-%. cork, €€
