Nico Caspari and Uwe Jostock are the
faces behind Weingut Caspari-Kappel
in Enkirch. Jostock is responsible for
both viticulture and winemaking. He cultivates
mainly Riesling on twelve hectares of top
slate sites like Enkircher Ellergrub, Enkircher
Monteneubel or Trabener Gaispfad but also
makes Weissburgunder and rosé wines. “Our
estate stands for animating, organic wines
from the Mosel’s steepest sites. The idea of terroir
is central to our philosophy,” they report.
Their ambitious range of wines demonstrates
this impressively!

Ripe apricot and nectarine on the nose, also red apple and
lemon zest. On the palate juicy and with fine fruit, good complexity.
In the powerful body ripe acidity meets good extract
with a deep character and spicy slate nuances too. Lots of

Light pale green reflections in the glass, initially closed, then
developing smoky notes with graphite and floral meadow
scents - cool on the nose. Initially delicate and almost soft on
the palate, then dense and plump, a multi-faceted wine with

Sparkling wine with notes of white honey and mirabelle
plums on the nose. On the palate a delicious pairing of sweetness
with fresh acidity, the mirabelle plum scents also continue
in the taste, the crunchy impression lingers for a long
time. Simultaneously fresh and elegant. 8,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€

Crystal-clear with light green reflections into the glass, delicate
smoky notes and white flowers on the nose. Then a
round juiciness on the palate, embedded in fresh animating

Fine nose with aromas of apple, citrus fruit and nectarine,
also meadow herbs. On the palate there is a slender structure
and a balance that is shaped by the sweetness-acidity
interplay, the lively acidity is precise. Apple and yellow fruit
re-emerge again with a fine minerality from the slate soil.
