The joy of wine as a reward for daily life”
was what prompted Holger Dütsch and
Hannelore Dütsch-Weiss in 2004 to
found their winery in the wine lands surrounding
Baden-Baden. They cultivate their four hectares
of vineyards in the village of Neuweier, their
vines rooted deeply in the arkose sandstone,
shale and porphyry soils. The vines have continuous
green cover and are always fertilised organically.
What we tasted were wines of character
with real profile that will be able to evolve for a
long time. Like the mineral Riesling “Tradition”
from the Mauerberg or the spicy Blaufränkisch.
These kinds of wines are indeed a daily reward!

Riesling trocken
Some yeast, lemon peel and apple on the nose, also fine
smoke. On the palate there is some substance and ripe acidity,
good density, again some citrus fruit and green apple, with
good juiciness in the finish, elegant and mineral based. Will
probably develop. 13,5 Vol.-%. synthetic closure, €€
which provides backbone, not too lush, slight astringency.

Riesling Spätlese feinherb
90 2018 Neuweier Mauerberg Chardonnay tr.
Fine wood notes on the nose, spice, some vanilla, apple, pear,
apricot and flowers. Compact and rather broad on the palate,
full-bodied and rich in extract, the wood and the acidity are
well-integrated, a hint of spice, dry and with fine minerality.
Young with potential. 13 Vol.-%. synthetic closure, €€
90 2019 Baden-Baden Sauvignon Blanc tr.
Expressive aromas of wood spice, cassis as well as ripe mango
and passion fruit. Ample power on the palate, opulent ripe
fruit, spice and juice, good extract, skilful use of wood, shows
the character of the grape variety and the Baden hallmark.
Ageing potential. 14 Vol.-%. screwcap, €€

Blaufränkisch trocken
Black cherry and blackberry on the nose, some cranberry,
wood and spice. Compactly composed. On the palate there is
pleasant spice, sour cherries, grippy tannins, lively acidity

Mirabelle plums, Reine Claude plums and apricot in the
finely- tuned fruity aroma, also floral notes and leafy
greens. Spicy and with well-balanced substance on the
palate, ripe fruit like passion fruit is accompanied by a lively
and balanced acidity, and ample mineral hue.
