If we stick to the winemaking maxim that
the estate Riesling is the calling card of the
house, then that of Weingut Prinz von
Hessen is a most attractive one: it spreads
across the palate with juiciness, charm and
fresh brightness, it is animating and almost voluptuous.
It is these entry-level and village
wines that appear to have gained in clarity
since Bärbel Weinert took over the running of
the estate. We cannot yet speak of a paradigm
shift, but we are curious to see how things will
develop.

Uniformity and intricateness on the nose, notes of stone
fruit, citrus and spicy meadow herbs. Concentrated and grippy
on the palate with notes of peach and citrus. Mineral, with
fine acidity and juicy, animating freshness. Pithy and elegant.

On the nose, balance, depth, juicy, bright fruit, red apple, gently
spicy herbs, a hint of smokiness. Supple mouthfeel, then
finely-integrated acid structure, rejuvenating towards the

Intricate and fine-grained on the nose with notes of yellow
fruit, orange blossom, white peach, yellow pear and juicy citrus
fruit. On the palate, a beautiful interplay of fresh, sweet
fruit and delicious acidity, delicate structure and yet taut, elegant

90 2019 »Steckenpferd« Riesling Spätlese
Finely-concentrated on the nose with notes of fresh vine
peach and a hint of apricot. Juicy on the palate, there is fine
fruit sweetness, supple and light. Fine grip and invigorating
citric acidity on the finish. Well-balanced and charming.

On the nose blossom, stone fruit, red-green fruit; round
and fresh. Initially charming and mouth-filling on the palate,
followed by invigorating acidity, vine peach and juicy
citrus fruit. Animating and pleasurable estate Riesling.
