The 500 or so members who got together
in the Weingärtnerei Cleebronn &
Güglingen cooperative have always
been ambitious. This co-op is among the best
and the wines presented this year prove it yet
again. Next to classic varieties like Riesling
and Lemberger they also grow varieties that
are at home in France – and the results are
quite respectable. We were especially impressed
by the full-bodied premium wine
“Roter Hirsch” which unites Lemberger, Merlot,
Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon
into a powerful, spicy red blend.

Rich, clear yellow. On the nose ripe citrus fruit, plus stone
fruit, peach and some crushed rock. On the palate rather restrained
acidity, grapefruit, green apple, lime juice and some
passion fruit. Firm, medium length, ideally paired with hearty
food. 13,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€

Rich cherry red. On the nose sour cherry, blackberry, sloe and
spice. On the palate luscious fruit, cherry, elderberry juice
followed by spiciness, lively acidity and well-defined fine tannins.
It has medium structure and is well-balanced, animating
with a good length. Enjoyable! 14 Vol.-%. cork, €€

Deep dark red. Blackberry, blackcurrant, dark chocolate and
herbal spice aromas. On the palate rich, ripe tannins with a
lively acidity, supported by dark fruit, peppery plum, cherry,
redcurrant leaf. Shows traction and texture, good length.
Good potential. 13,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€€

Lemberger trocken
Rich cherry red. On the nose dark fruit of the forest, ripe cherry,
some smoke nuances, coffee and hints of pickled plum. On
the palate ripe acidity, well-integrated tannins, solid structure,
lots of red fruit, cherry and blackberry. Good length,
pairs well with red meat. 14 Vol.-%. cork, €€€

Chardonnay & Viognier trocken
Clear honey yellow. Scents of flower meadows, some rose,
blossom honey, also smoke and a hint of vanilla; expansive.
Fresh acidity on the palate, re-emerging delicate floral nuances,
then citrus, rose, and apricot. Medium structure and
length, very aromatic blend. 13,5 Vol.-%, cork, €€€
