The Weingut am Ölspiel, where three
generations live and work together, has
cultivated the best steep sites of Sommerhausen
for centuries. The estate lies at the
foot of the Ölspiel site whose Triassic limestone
soils characterise the wines. “We only
use grapes that were cultivated with the greatest
artisanal care and the utmost respect for
nature,” the Schwarz family tells us. All the
wines convince with their balanced, freshfaced
nature and they are happy for any visitors
to pop by unannounced: “Someone is always
at home,” – that’s just the way of life for
this winemaking family.

Powerful and properly dry Spätlese that smells of apple and yellow
flowers. The warm 2018 shows itself with good substance
and also force on the palate where juice and texture meet, accompanied
by spicy herbal notes. Harmonious in its opulence.

Yellow blossom on the nose, ripe apricot, orange zest and
smoky notes. On the palate there is power and texture, broadly
laid out with firm structure, substance and a soft base, fine
spice too. Shows consistency, length and also charm, good potential

Grapefruit, white currants, yeast and dried orange peel on the
nose. Lots of volume on the palate, taut acidity, not too generously
dimensioned in the sweetness, strong tactile mineral

Intense and spicy nose, toasted aromas, coffee, black cherry,
also plum and herb garden; the palate, likewise, is intense in

Beautiful varietal aroma of ripe gooseberry, mirabelle
plum, yellow apple and yellow flowers with some herbal
hints. On the palate there is clear, pure fruit, juicy and emphatically
