At Weingut Clauss there is lots of attention
to detail when it comes to manual
work in vineyard and cellar. All grapes
are hand-harvested and transported gently in
shallow crates. Even the sparkling wines are
made in-house and the ‘Sekts’ are riddled by
hand. “By moving the yeast that way, we identify
even more with the Sekt,” writes Berthold
Clauss who makes properly dry and expressive
wines. Even Muskateller grapes are fermented
to full dryness. “That’s my style,” he
notes. A really strong collection of wines, we
can feel that things are happening in the village
of Nack. That’s the spirit!

Deutscher Wein trocken Réserve
A terroir-driven Müller Thurgau with scents reminiscent of
elderflower and black pepper. This spiciness continues on
the palate. The acidity is strong, the body has a lot of structure.
A deep and complex Müller-Thurgau of a somewhat different

On the nose, the scent of vanilla and young pineapple. Good
substance on the palate, powerful and wood-supported construction,
dry in impression, the acidity on the palate is accompanied
by a soft tart taste. Overall very elegant and

On the nose, discreet vanilla notes and a hint of mint. The
fruit is reminiscent of raspberry. On the palate, the Pinot
shows good texture, clear fruit with an intense acid structure
and still slightly rustic tannins that will integrate further.

Sweet, fruity notes of liquorice and cherries on the nose. Additionally
discreet notes of tobacco. On the palate there is a
strong stature, soft tannins are complemented by fresh acidity.
All around a well-balanced wine with individuality and increasing
