What the Rings brothers deliver is
simply brilliant. The Riesling from
the Kallstadter Saumagen shows
why wines grown on limestone are so magnificent:
a rare combination of volume and playfulness.
Here this was captured with exactitude
and taken to calm serenity in the barrel.
Its counterpart from the terra rossa soils of the
Ungsteiner Weilberg is no less successful: a soft
minerality pervades the palate and lends tension
in the most relaxed fashion. And then the
reds: tannins like velvet from the Leistadter
Felsenberg, breath-taking density and spice
from the Saumagen. More please!

Aromas of wood along with clear notes of spontaneous fermentation.
Closed citrus fruit; lime, passion fruit. On the palate,
dense but not broad, a high concentration of substance,
acidity and minerality with a smooth backbone. A pithy wine
with a great future! 13 Vol.-%. cork, €€€
Shows tension, density and elegance. Good ageing potential.

Still closed on the nose, slightly vegetal, slightly citrusy.
Great volume on the palate, a homogeneous combination of
minerality and fine substance, delicate acidity, supple base.
Seems totally relaxed and complete, soft minerality.

Spätburgunder GG unfiltriert
Dark, dense nose that only opens slowly and shows herbs,
smoke and mocha; also beetroot and sour cherry. Dense and
tightly woven on the palate, very good balance of all elements,
complete, stable and fine acidity. Quite delicate but
with great potential. 12,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€€€

Spätburgunder GG unfiltriert
Smoky and herbal on the powerful nose, cherry and toasted
aromas, some blood orange. Opens with a juicy palate; there
is vivid, well integrated acidity, lots of ripe and fine tannin.
93 2019 Ungstein Nussriegel
Riesling Erste Lage trocken
A fine fragrance of lemon zest, lime and elderflower. On
the palate there is pronounced acidity plus a complex aroma
of lychee, peach, wet stone and lavender. Ideally balanced.
An exciting wine with a significant finish.
