The fact that Wolfgang Bender has his
own views becomes apparent very
quickly. He took over his family estate
in Bissersheim in 2011 at age 22. He offers his
dry Riesling Auslese that clocks up 14% ABV
in a litre-bottle, his multi-layered red wine
blend “Time to say Peace” is dedicated to “tolerance,
peace and humanity in turbulent
times.” He had a 30-year-old vineyard of
Siegerrebe top-grafted to Chenin Blanc from
which he now makes a wine with intense savouriness.

Wolfgang Bender, uncompromisingly turning
their unorthodox ideas into reality.

Ripe citrus fruit and apple on the nose, grapefruit, apricot,
preserved lemon. Intense spice on the palate complements
the ripe fruit notes. Tightly built, good substance, phenolic
and also slightly peppery, ripe acidity. A French variety that
does well in the Pfalz. 12,5 Vol.-%. screwcap, €€

Penetrating and spicy nose of cassis and dark berries, tea, ink
and forest floor. On the palate tidy with sweet extract and
beautiful fruit. Powerful stature, spice, lots of substance,

Powerful bouquet characterised by cassis, wood spice, rosehip
and juniper berry. Tightly and powerfully structured on
the palate. Dry and with vivid acidity, depicts the powerful
year, but also shows freshness. Pure in fruit, individualistic.

Woody notes on the nose; dark berry fruit and spice, rosehip,
blackberry and black cherry, cassis. On the palate there is a
prominent tannin framework, powerful and forceful, not a
wine that is on the light side, nevertheless shows fruity elegance
