was created during the reign of Friedrich
August the I (1750–1827). This Saxon king
even thought of guard cottages and a press
house. Evidently, he was aware of the value
of the weathered granitic soils and the
clement mesoclimate of this mostly
terraced, southwest-facing site rising from
