Weingut Sohns is in the northern
part of Geisenheim, close to the famous
viticultural college. Pascal
Sohns and his father Erich work hand in hand
in order to “produce top quality wines in tune
with nature,” they report. Cellar master Pascal
manages to make really expressive wines, like
the dense and textured Grosses Gewächs from
the Kläuserweg, which mirror their site. But
his Spätburgunder also turn out really well!
You can taste and sip the wines at their Vinothek
(wine shop) with its roof terrace that offers
a panoramic view of the river Rhine.

Powerful and complex nose with ripe stone fruit, apricot, orange
zest and fine herbs. Full-bodied and powerful on the
palate with good substance and density. Phenolic tartness
adds to the complexity, ripe acidity. Good ageing potential.

tannin is noticeable and still slightly demanding, good length

Slate spice on the nose with ripe yellow fruit, peach, mango
and citrus, floral notes, balmy. Well-balanced on the palate,

On the nose toasty aromas from wood-ageing, green walnut,
also melon and smoky notes. Creamy, full-bodied and juicy
on the palate, judicious use of wood that lends structure;
well-integrated power. Pinot blanc with potential and that
would pair well with food. Young. 13,5 Vol.-%, screwcap, €€

Compact and intense nose, black cherry and blackberry, obvious
spice and also smoke. On the palate robust with spice

Ripe yellow fruit on the nose, some flint and also herbs.
Multi-layered on the palate with well-woven components -
fruit, acidity and phenolic elements are balanced. Dry and
with good density and minerality, long on the palate. Ageing
