With its lively acidity and verve, the
2019 vintage was a downright invitation
to play – and Catharina
Grans accepted it promptly. Sweetness and
acidity already have a proper arc of tension in
the GGs – emphatically salty in the Dhron
Hofberg, floral and buffered in the Piesporter
Goldtröpfchen, spicy and dense in the Trittenheim
Apotheke, rich and yellow-fruited in the
Leiwen Laurentiuslay. We also found an absolutely
targeted balance in the fruit-sweet and
nobly sweet wines – with a most satisfactory
outcome: a great vintage plus a great winemaker
results in great wines.
93 2019 Dhron Hofberg Riesling GG
Concentrated fruit, apricot, also yellow flowers, spice, floral
notes and warm greenhouse scents. Starts with a lively and
cultivated acidity, slight saltiness, good substance, ripe yellow
fruit, plus phenolic hints. Soft and dense.

93 2019 Piesport Goldtröpfchen Riesling GG
Bluebell on the nose followed by stone fruit like peach and mirabelle
plums, floral and spicy notes emerge too. On the palate
there is pointed and taut acidity, the finely pronounced fruitiness
is well integrated with phenolic tartness. Substance with
a good length and potential. 12,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€€

emerging scents. Shows the opulence and generosity of the
apothecary, has enough style to avoid exuberance. Well balanced
and a mix of classic and modern that succeeds well.

Riesling Auslese
Yellow and white gold in colour. On the nose summer pear, in
addition honeydew melon, spices and subtle fine herbs. On
the palate ripe medlars, candied lime peel and a fine, dense
sweetness. Attractive balance in the flow. Very expressive
and long with potential. 8 Vol.-%. cork, €€€
89 2019 »Flussterrassen« Riesling
Apricot and white peach on the nose, with a fine sweetness-acidity
interplay on the palate, on the drier side of the
spectrum "halbtrocken". Polished and juicy with good
length and distinct mineral perception on the finish.
