Dürkheim-Leistadt cultivates 20
hectares of vines. “Being located at
the fringes of the Haardt mountain range, the
cool climate affords our wines their beautiful
acidity structure,” manager Friedhelm Neu
says. There is much to discover in his range of
wines: the savoury Roter Riesling, the elegant
Riesling “AR” from the Leistadter Herrenmorgen
site or the smooth Portugieser “AR”.
The fact that Friedhelm Neu also likes to experiment
is borne out in his honest “Sylvaner
Orange”. Exciting!

Aromas of green apple and citrus fruit, lime zest, leafiness.
Juicy and spicy on the palate, well judged, balanced acid
structure. Shows on the one hand the ripe fruit of a late harvest
but maintains the freshness and elegance of Riesling, its
depth and expression. 12,5 Vol.-%. screwcap, €

Spicy and malty notes, rosehip, pear skin, hops, white pepper,
dried apricot and a hint of mint. Powerfully built and with
phenolic layers, rather broad on the palate with ripe acidity.
Dry, unadorned, ideal with food. 13,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€

Portugieser trocken
Sour cherry and plum on the nose, blood orange, toasty aromas
with herbs including dried rosemary. Dry on the palate
with balanced acidity in a powerful, clearly defined body,
grippy and ripe tannins, mineral foundation. Good potential.

Ripe fruit notes on the nose; wild berries, cherry, also chocolate-coated
cherry in Kirsch, blueberry, wood spice, charcoal,
juniper berry and smoked meat. Powerfully built on the palate
with a prominent tannin framework, bold in substance
with good freshness and sour cherry. Dry. 14 Vol.-%. cork, €€

Peach and tangerine peel, a touch of candied orange peel,
blossom, ground almonds. Juicy and soft on the palate
with restrained acidity and nice spiciness, ripe stone fruit
and citrus fruit. Powerful, good substance, grip, shows profile
and character, spicy on the finish.
