It was in 1986 that Siegfried Moosmann
started vinifying his own wines, in 1994 his
son Georg Moosmann took over the reins
in the cellar and took over the running of the estate
in 2014. They now have 25 hectares of
vineyards, in the villages of Buchholz, Mundingen
and Herbolzheim at the foot of the Black
Forest. While the focus clearly is on red and
white Pinot-varieties, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc
and Muskateller also get good attention. Strong
investments over recent years into modern cellar
equipment meant that grapes can now be
treated even more gently. A most successful debut

"Gris" in colour, bright reflections, dried fruit on the nose, but
also a sparkle of flint. On the palate supple, silky, broad with
ripe acidity and powerful but integrated alcohol as well as
lively, intense and long lasting tactile minerality.

Elderberry and apple, subtle nutty wood notes, overtones of
thyme and liquorice. On the palate there is enormous texture
by the finest means, the silky phenolics are coupled with intense
tactile minerality, the creamy background carries acidity,

Bitter chocolate, toasty notes, mocha, herbal bitters. Very
ripe vintage. Creamy and oily onset, taut, grainy tannins, vivid
and slightly increasing acidity on the palate. A sturdy core for
years of bottle ageing to come. 14 Vol.-%. cork, €€

Gelber Muskateller Deutscher Wein
Golden in colour with golden yellow reflections. On the nose
a delicate muscat fruit, candied peach, mango, nutmeg. Viscous
onset, intensely substantial mid palate, concentrated
acidity, generous sweetness and a salty finish. Great length.

The nose reveals ripe mirabelle plums and Pinot fruit, raspberry,
citrus fruit, spicy and floral notes. Direct and lively
acidity, which provides a lot of dynamism on the palate.
