Following on from the brilliant 2017
wines, Stephan Attmann and his team
trump this with excellent 2018 wines –
which of course are a little more full in style
than its taut predecessors – yet they show as
much balance and inner conviction. We are
happy to place bets on the fact that the dense
and deeply mineral 2018 Kirchenstück will
still sing in 20 years’ time. However, the von-
Winning-style can also be had in a more accessible
price category. The wines from the “Win-
Win” series or the equally well-priced Erste
Lage Paradiesgarten are full of expression and
elegance.

Some wood, also spicy, cumin, chilli and mineral undertones.
On the palate; broad, supple, but also sturdy. Ripe acidity, the
high intensity level lasts for a long time, everything is densely
interwoven. Very, very mineral. 13 Vol.-%. cork, €€€€
96 2018 »Marmar« Riesling
Restrained wood influence, concentrated citrus aromas, also
herbs and volcanic rock. A supple start to the palate, an increasingly
fine texture, a tactile minerality which spreads
evenly and gently across the palate. 13 Vol.-%. cork, €€€€
95 2018 Forst Ungeheuer Riesling GG
A little wood, citrus fruit, tangerine, warm brick. Powerful on
the palate, smooth extract, subtle sweetness balances the
ripe acidity. Very fine but clearly present phenolics, textured,
full bodied with an intense fruit-driven finish.

Closed on the nose. Notes of wood, hay, sultana and linden
blossom. Supple, viscous opening, pronounced fruitiness, immediately
vivid, powerful tactile mineral background. Lots of
juice behind the dense structure. Indicative of the warm vintage
showing concentration but not alcohol.

Citrus notes on the nose, candied lemon peel, grapefruit, a
touch of nutmeg and lemon balm. Supple attack, a little
spritz, medium weight extract. Quite linear in structure
with ripe acidity and discreet sweetness underlining the
