We liked what Weingut Finkenauer
from Bubenheim presented for
tasting: Especially their ambitious
“Meilenstein” wines, which have gained in
character and profile, above all the complex,
mineral Riesling from the Schwabenheimer
Schlossberg site and the spicy, creamy Weissburgunder
from the Bubenheimer Kallenberg
site. It is remarkable what this self-made winemaker
Yvonne Finkenauer has managed to
build – with the help of her team and her father
Wilfried. Together they farm 15 hectares of
vines in Bubenheim. We think even greater
things will be possible in the future!

Schlossberg Riesling trocken
Ripe stone fruit on the nose, notes of apricot and peach, also
citrus fruit. Powerfully-built on the palate with just the the
right level of sweetness. Persistent ripe acidity, more ripe
fruit, mineral underpinning. Riesling with complexity and
character. 13 Vol.-%. screwcap, €€
with good extract and plenty of spice. The alcohol is well-integrated,
intense and well-balanced at the same time.

Subtle smoke on the nose, discreet wood spice, apricot and
apple. On the palate there is a powerful and firm structure
due to wood ageing, good extract, spicy and textured, good
balance of power and smoothness, ripe acidity, good ageing

Chardonnay trocken
Melon and pear on the nose with fine toasty aromas and
spice, also aromas of walnut. Powerful and broad on the palate.
Power, density and texture combine well against a soft
backdrop, firm texture. Well-balanced, youthful Chardonnay
with good ageing potential. 13,5 Vol.-%. screwcap, €€

Sauvignon Blanc trocken
Ripe papaya, mango and lychee on the nose, also gooseberry
and redcurrant. Lots of substance on the palate, full-bodied

Riesling trocken
Fruity nose with mirabelle plum and apricot, some mango
and also herbal notes. There is a lot of juiciness and ripe
fruit, a supple and elegant expression of Riesling, slender
and athletically-built with good proportions, spice and
