Last year, we put the focus of our tasting
onto Sascha Montigny’s exquisite red
Pinots – this year the Pinots have to
share the centre stage with his Rieslings. We
were really impressed with the powerful
Laubenheimer Krone site Riesling, and its easily
equal very harmonious counterpart from
the Laubenheimer Karthäuser site. Furthermore,
we simply must mention that Montigny
also has a real talent for Sekt, his “Blanc de
Noir” from the 2014 vintage invariably lifts
the mood – just another feather in his cap!

Still closed, hints of pineapple, balsamic-mineral notes, nectarine.
Poised and wide on the palate, with fine phenolic and
terpene-spicy extract, well-integrated, firm acidity, delicate
mineral hue. Riesling with texture and volume.

92 2018 Laubenheim Krone Spätburgunder tr.
Slightly smoky, elderberry, herbs, minty tones, thyme oil and
sweet almond. Slightly dry but ripe tannin, underlying suppleness,
good density, rather ripe acidity, but still completely
in balance due to the phenolics and juiciness.
13,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€€
92 2018 Laubenheim Krone Frühburgunder tr.
Small red berries, buttery notes and camphor. On the palate
there is fine-grained, ripe tannin, very natural in proportions
and fruit. Ripe acidity, a hint of the typical vintage creaminess.

trocken PN/SL/DU
Dark chocolate, elderberry, crème de cassis. On the palate
there is taut tannin, quite dry and underlying juiciness. Above
all a construction designed for storability, powerful alcohol
but covered by extract with vibrant fruit on the finish.

Lemon and orange on the nose, with smoky mineral undertones.
Tight palate, dense and compact, lots of substance,
great freshness, mineral tension, but also sweet fruit on
