Johannes Leitz, who took over his family
estate that can be traced back to 1744 in
1985, consistently produces first class
wines across the board - from 120 hectares of
vineyards. This is as true for his very solid, animating
Riesling trocken as it is at the top for
his outstanding Grosse Gewächse. This time, it
was the Riesling from the Rüdesheimer Berg
Kaisersteinfels that impressed us most with its
body, towering minerality and great ageing
potential. The other Grosse Gewächse are
competing strongly too! A great range of
wines.

Fragrant nose of flint and stone fruit, dark honey, brown sugar.
Full-bodied and juicy on the palate, smooth acidity, real
drive, very long, deliciously-astringent finish, lots of minerality,

Bright green in the glasss, cool, slightly powdery nose, also
mirabelle plum. Creamy on the palate with juicy acidity,
white currants, then salty minerality paired with tart citrus
notes. Seems very young and powerful - in a positive sense.

Ehrenfels Riesling GG
Spicy and fresh on the nose with notes of smoke and wood,
herbs, moss, stone-fruit, passion fruit. Also smoky on the palate
with a combination of both suppleness and tension, ripe
acidity, restrained sweetness. Long, substantial finish.

Glinting green-golden reflections, fragrant nose of white
blossom and delicious Mediterranean herbs such as lavender

Clear yellow. On the nose fine citrus fruit, mineral tone,
lemon balm, lemon, herbal spice. On the palate sweetness
and acidity in a nice balance, somewhat phenolic, ripe apple,
pear, apricot, stony. Firm, good structure, long, elegant.
