The Berg family has run this old farmhouse
inn for more than fifty years.
Their hotel and restaurant business
also includes an estate with two hectares of
vines in the sites of Lorcher Pfaffenwies and
Krone, in the Rüdesheimer Berg Schlossberg
and the Assmannshäuser Höllenberg. Peter
Perabo, the well-known Rheingau oenologist,
advises the family when it comes to vineyard
and cellar. We were captured by this magnificent
range of wines with its finely balanced
Rieslings and the site-specific Spätburgunders.

Finely woven nose with notes of apple (Granny Smith), apricot,
herbs and hot stone. On the palate there is good energy and
traction, ripe acidity, medium substance, fine astringency and
mineral hue. Good balance between the elements. Shows its

Concentrated nose with lots of cassis and a fine barrel note,
spicy, herbal and mineral. Concentrated on the palate as well
and there is good substance, much extract, spice, the ripeness
of the warm year combined with the mineral character of the
site. Already impressive. 14 Vol.-%, cork, €€€

Spätburgunder trocken
Fine, mature Pinot nose with balsamic spice, earthy tones,
cassis, blood orange and mineral notes. Soft and elegant. On
the palate there is integrated acidity and beautiful spice, ripe
tannin. The minerality is the key to the greatness of the wine,

Fine, ripe nose of saffron and sour cherries, some petrol. On
the palate the wonderful sweetness of a crème brulée, juicy
acidity with plump buffering, light marine and iodine notes. Incredibly
gluggable and with a very long finish.
