The vines are still young – the oldest
planting dates to 2006. Yet the yield
from these relatively new vineyards already
delivers depth: Daniel Twardowski is a
shooting star when it comes to Pinot Noir winemakers
on the Mosel. He even declared his
vineyards in the Dhroner Hofberg as a completely
Riesling-free zone and only grows
Spätburgunder. That it has no trouble ripening
is amply evident in both of his 2018 wines,
where we happened to like the fleshy-fresh
wine without site designation a little more
than the slightly broader single-site wine.

Concentrated Pinot nose, ripe blueberry, some wax and new
wood. Herbaceous on the palate, starts smoothly, pronounced
aromatic expression, creamy, relatively dry but ripe
tannins, a little less fruit on the palate than on the nose.
Ripe acidity, broad finish. 12,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€€€

Raspberry, cherry, dried meat and discreet wood on the nose.
On the palate lively acidity, good freshness, sinewy style,
relatively good amount of quality tannins for the medium
weight fruit cover, ripe tannin, clear mineral definition, Burgundian
style. 12,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€€€

Berryish Pinot scent, new wood, cherry, almond stones and
wet stones nuances. Fruity on the palate, cherry and sour
cherry, fine, smoothly embedded tannins, very ripe phenolics,
good proportions and good freshness. A complete
Pinot, chalky notes on the finish. 12,5 Vol.-%, cork, €€€€
