91 2016 »Geldermann Jahrgangssekt« brut
A Champagne-like yeasty spiciness, plus grapey notes, medium-fine
mousse on the palate. Also rather neutral fruit, ripeness,
harmonious acidity, not too sweetly rounded, an appetising,
slightly mineral-hued sparkling wine that will also
work as a food wine. 12 Vol.-%. cork, €€
There is much talk about the new German
Sekt miracle and the young generation
of German sparkling winemakers. The
great names of Germany’s Sekt history thus often
lose out being in the spotlight. The Geldermann
Privatsektkellerei in Breisach, for instance,
can look on a sparkling wine history going
back to 1838. Their ethos has not changed:
“We leave nothing to chance when making our
premium sparkling wines,” writes cellar master
Marc Gauchey. He notes that it starts with selecting
the grapes and continues all the way
through to traditional method bottle fermentation
– and you can truly taste that!

Lemon yellow in appearance with an evolving mousse in the
glass. On the nose, a scent of hay, brioche, honeydew melon
and quince. On the palate, good acidity which balances the
slightly sweet aroma, complemented by ripe pineapple, nectarine
and lemon zest nuances. Good finish. 12 Vol.-%. cork, €

Medium orange in appearance. On the nose a fine scent of
raspberry, ripe strawberry and a madarin tart note. On the
palate also ripe apricot and dried apple notes, balanced by
lively acidity. A medium-bodied sparkling wine with a good
mousse. 12 Vol.-%. cork, €€
89 2016 Rosé brut
Light pink with orange reflections. Intense fruit on the nose:
rosehip jam, wild strawberry, very sweet on the palate, extra
dry rather than brut, lively acid backbone, medium-fine
mousse, an accessible sparkling wine that finishes as fruity
as it smells. 12 Vol.-%. cork, €€
90 NV »Geldermann Grand« brut
Golden yellow hues with elegantly developing mousse in
the glass. A rather cool aroma of lemon, apricot and brioche.
This aroma is also evident on the palate, as well as
orange zest and elderflower. The sparkling wine is finelybalanced
and has a good drinking flow. 12 Vol.-%, cork, €€
