Von Othegraven is known for single-site
wines of striking personality. The three
Kabinett wines from the 2019 vintage
which were presented by this long-established estate
this year, are further proof of this. Since tasting
the Wawerner Herrenberg which evoked thoughts
of Mozart for one of our tasters, this made us ponder
on the idea of a fitting musical association for
Altenberg Kabinett? Perhaps the solemn and slightly
wild Beethoven? Or maybe even Bach for the
Wiltinger Kupp? Logical strength dissolved in the
most exalted musicality! Even more relevant: there
is a Vinothek (wine shop) in the park, offering tastings
as well as an event space for up to 60 people.

Soft yellow with green reflections. On the nose verbena, bay
leaf, sweet lemons, coriander seeds plus a fine spicy, balsamic
slate note. On the palate fine sweetness, body and acidity
in balance, apricot, and dried fruit on the finish.

White gold in colour. On the nose bread crust, a hint of Calvados,
ripe apples, smoky notes and a subtle Champagne scent.
Deep, dense sweetness-acidity on the palate. Animating aftertaste.

90 2019 Kanzem Altenberg Riesling Kabinett
Medium, clear yellow. Spicy slate nose followed by kindling,
flint, lemon balm and mint. Luscious and fresh simultaneously.
On the palate somewhat phenolic with a peach and
apricot mineral underlay and good harmony. Calm and coherent,
medium length. 8,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€

Riesling Spätlese
On the nose citrus, dried fruits, apricot, candied orange, sultana
and spicy slate nuances. On the palate a lot of texture,
fine phenolics, ripe citrus fruit, peach juice, balanced and
spicy, with a certain lightness. Very good potential.

Medium, clear yellow. On the nose racy slate spice, flint,
grapefruit, kindling and spices. Fine balance between
sweetness and acidity on the palate, somewhat phenolic,
peach, apricot, densely woven, again lots of spice. Good
